5 Reasons Your Business Needs a Blog

Most businesses and nonprofits are told “you must have a blog” but they aren’t told why this is true. In this session, Jamie will explain the 5 reasons you need a blog. She will then guide you through the basic questions you need to answer to get your blog started including: who does the blogging, where the blog exists, and developing a strategy.

Gutenberg: The Future of Editing and Best Practices

I will be explaining what Gutenberg is, and giving some demonstrations on how it will change writing Blog pages and Pages. Also I will explain what will not changed. I will offer some tips on the best practices when to use Gutenberg and when to use a page builder or the classic editor. I will also provide a detail list and demonstration of the different blocks available with a normal install, and where you can get additional Gutenblocks.

WordPress 101

So, you want your own website or maybe build a basic one for others? In WordPress 101 you’ll learn the building blocks — including organizing your information, pages and posts, uploading and using images, and choosing a first theme (set of templates). Demonstrations will be done on the publishing platform WordPress.com, but everything taught works the same on self-hosted websites using WordPress.org. I’ll even explain what I mean by that!

This is a beginner session, assuming no special skills or technical knowledge.

I Never Worked a Day in My Life

I’m in my 50’s now and I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 8.  My first business was a lemonade stand, but unlike most first graders I ran my stand like a restaurant and made good money. Most importantly, I learned
